Free tier Photobucket accounts no longer allow you to embed your images without upgrading first. Requiring you to upgrade to their $399.99 plan in order for you to have both image linking and 3rd party image hosting privileges. This is just a heads up for those of you that don't already know. Good news, there's still better solutions out there and I'll link a few of them below.

Cited from their Terms of Use:

Quote:“The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If you are interested in image linking and/or 3rd party image hosting, you will need to subscribe to one of our Plus Accounts described below.”

I haven't heard of photobucket in a long time. No one uses it anymore. I personally always use imgur because ShareX default uploads to it.

Using Imgur to embed images on forum communities and the alike is technically against their TOS so I'm going to refrain from recommending them right now.

Yea I know a mod on another forum who is literally freaking out about all of this pb stuff thinking we will get fined and what not. I don't think that's quite how it works...

As in fined by Photobucket? That shouldn't be a possibility as far as I know. Remember the images that Photobucket replaced in your thread on here with that “Please update your account to enable 3rd party hosting” image? That's what they're doing for free accounts that already had 3rd party links established before their recent change in service. This will happen to everyone that doesn't upgrade.

Reasonably speaking I don't believe website owners and the alike can be held responsible for a sudden change like this.

Unless I'm ignorant about something I think it's safe to say your friend should relax and let go of this worry.

Yep almost everywhere is filled with subscription ads now because all of the hot-linked images. So many websites forced to display that image unless they remove the content.

Yea - this was pretty much my understanding. Pb linked images would just show the 'please update your account..' message.
